Mrs. T. J. Garton passed away Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. E. Nelson, the immediate cause of her death being attributed to heart failure.
Emily E. Crayton born at Eureka, Illinois, November 22, 1849, moved to Missouri with her father at the age of 5 years. Was married to Thomas J. Garton on February 19, 1865 at her father’s home near Bethany, Missouri. She was united with the Christian church at Bethany, Missouri, in January 1866 of which she remained an active member until death. Until nine years ago she, with her husband and family, lived around Bethany, Missouri, at which time she and her husband moved to Wray, Colorado, where they remained until coming to Albion, Nebraska, last Thanksgiving Day to spend the winter here with her daughter, Mrs. H. E. Nelson. Mrs. Garton has made many friends in her short stay in Albion.
She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, Thomas J. Garton, eleven children, Frank of Wray, Colorado; Mrs. W. W. Barns of Hammond, Nebraska; Mrs. James Williams of Bethany, Missouri; Harley of Eckley, Colorado; Mrs. H. E. Nelson of Albion, Nebraska; Ray of Broken Bow, Nebraska; Mrs. I. D. Mankin of Meadow Grove, Nebraska; Evan of Lemoyne, Nebraska; Maurice of Wray, Colorado; Mrs. Norval Miles of Bethany, Missouri; and Mrs. Fred Maloney of Eckley, Colorado; three sisters, Mrs. Amanda Rucker of Hot Springs, South Dakota; Mrs. Nettie Gould, Phillipsburg, Kansas; Mrs. Neva Egbert of Lee Summit, Missouri. Thirty-eight grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren, also a great many other relatives and friends.
