Eleanor C. (Lobdell) Hughes, 99, passed away Wednesday at Michaud Residential Health Services in Fulton. She was born in Syracuse a daughter of the late Bertram and Ellen (Preston) Lobdell. Eleanor had been a resident of Phoenix for over 60 years. She was employed with Allied Spring Works in Syracuse for over 10 years as an assembler. Eleanor was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Phoenix and the Town of Schroeppel Senior Citizens. She also enjoyed and was an avid bowler. She was predeceased by her husband, Neil R. Hughes, sister, Mildred Candee and a brother, Bertram Lobdell. Surviving to cherish her memory are two sons, Gerald C. (Ingborg) Hughes of Phoenix, Lawrence D. (Josie) Hughes of Syracuse; daughter-in-law, Ruth Hughes; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Route 31 in Baldwinsville, with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Phoenix Rural Cemetery. Contributions in Eleanor's memory can be made to First Congregational United Church of Christ, 43 Bridge Street, Phoenix, NY 13135.
