Paul Maxwell Jeffers, age 89 of Frederick, Md., passed away on June 15th 2015. He was the loving husband of the late Marie Katherine Jeffers.

Paul was born February 20th 1926 in T.B. Maryland. Paul was the son of the late Mark Pullian Jeffers Sr. and Julia Elizabeth (Crist) Jeffers.

T.B. is at the intersection of Route 5, Route 373 and Brandywine Road, in Prince George's County, a stoplight junction only a few tenths of a mile northwest of U.S. 301. The lonely dot of a town got its name from late 18th century landowner William Townshend and Indian fighter Thomas Brooke. Townshend's and Brooke's last initials were engraved on opposite sides of a stone to mark their respective sides of the property boundary. T.B. was once listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as having the shortest geographical name for a town.

The family later moved to Barnesville, Md., where they took up farming. Paul joined the Navy on June 16th 1944. He was a Motor Machinist Mate Third Class serving aboard the submarine chaser USS SC-659. Upon his release from service on June 20th 1946, Paul joined NIH in Bethesda, Md. Paul retired from his IT position with the Policy & Planning Bureau in 1985.

Paul married Marie on February 26th 1960 and became the step-father to her two children, Wayne and Nancy.

In his retirement years he assisted Marie in her child care business and was known to the many children as "Daddy Paul". That friendship with him remained strong, with many bringing their kids back for care. To his beloved granddaughter, Erin, he was "Poppy". Paul loved college sports, baseball and basketball and spent many of his later years enjoying those games on TV.

Paul was a Past Commander of American Legion Post, Daniel-Jeffers Post #247 in Poolesville, Md. He also was a member of VFW Post #3285 in Frederick, Md.
