Sgt. 1st Class "Ret" Seth "Steve" Stevens, III, age 65 of Nebo, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 16, 2015.


Steve was born in El Paso County, CO on October 19, 1949 to Neva Stevens and the late Sgt. Major Seth Stevens, II.


Retiring as Sgt. 1st Class in the U.S. Army, he served his country faithfully for 20 years, which spanned during the Vietnam War Era.


After his retirement, Steve began a new career with the Department of Correction in Marion where he worked for 11 years. As an avid motorcycle rider and a proud member of the Vietnam Veteran Legacy Motorcycle Club, he passed away doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle. Steve was a very loving man and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.


Those remaining to cherish Steve's memory are his mother, Neva Stevens of Fayetteville; his wife of 37 years, Linda Roper Stevens of the home; four children, Seth Stevens, IV and Daniel Stevens and wife Christy of Battle Creek, MI, John Stevens of Boone and Maggie Taylor and husband Michael of Nebo. Two sisters, Barbara Robertson and Jane Johansen of Fayetteville; two brothers, Robert Stevens of Elizabeth, NJ and William Stevens and wife Debbie of Fayetteville; and eleven grandchildren also survive.


A celebration in honor of Steve's life will be held on Thursday, June, 25, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
