Edward enrolled in the 105th Regt., Ohio Vol. Inf. He was also reported to have served in Company K, 38th Ohio Vol. Inf. He was wounded at Lookout Mountain. He was survived by two sons, Harry Howard of New Castle, Robert Howard, of Lowellville, and two daughters, Mrs. W. E. Stewart of Evans City, and Mrs. George H. McKinley, of New Castle. His brother, Thomas H. Howard resided in the west.
