Peggy was born on July 20, 1927 in Bluffton, Mo. to the late Lemmie L. Rose and the late Emma E. Northern. On October 19, 1945, she was united in marriage to John E. Douglas who preceded her in death on November 29, 2009.
Peggy enjoyed traveling and wintering in Texas. She and John enjoyed dancing at every opportunity. Peggy’s careers included working in the gem department at Buchroeder’s Manufacturing, medical secretary in Columbia and 30 years as a medical secretary at Fulton State Hospital.
Left to mourn her loss are daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Merlin Smith; son and daughter-in-law, John and Nancy Douglas; daughter-in-law, Darla Douglas; grandchildren, Doug Smith, Patti Wood, Jenny Bashford and John M. Douglas, Kathryn and Jonathan Douglas; great-grandchildren, Kevin L. Smith, Sawyer G. Wood, Blaine & Keely Derleth; great-great-grandson, Hunter D. Smith; and sister-in-law, Peggy Rose. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Mark K. Douglas; brothers, Don and Clyde Rose; and sisters, Violet and Patricia Rose.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Maupin Funeral Home with Pastor Martin Stukenborg officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
