Daughter of James McDonald and Mary Burns. Elizabeth was the eighth of their ten children, born in Tanfield and baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Byermoor, County Durham, England. She immigrated with her parents and three siblings arriving on the British Princess at Philadelphia 30 July 1888. Elizabeth married Francis Noel 17 Feb 1896 at Latrobe. She was the mother of six children.

Requiem high mass was sung Monday morning in Immaculate Conception Church of Irwin for Mrs. Elizabeth M. McDonald Noel, 83, of 52 North Broadway, North Irwin, who died last Thursday at her home. Interment was made in Irwin Catholic cemetery. She was born October 28, 1875 in England, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James McDonald. She had lived in America for the past 75 years and is the last member of her family. Her husband, Frank, died in 1947. Surviving are the following chidlren: Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson, of Turtle Creek; Frank J., of Canonsburg; Wayne J. and Mrs. Thelma Weston, both of North Irwin. Also surviving are four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Irwin.
