Bishop and Mrs. L. Frank Redd left Friday for Salt Lake City, where they accompanied their son Bennion, who left a few days early before his induction into the armed forces. Tuesday morning they met Leon and Emilio Sanchez, and Jose Samuel Madrid as they came in, and saw them off to Fort Douglas, where they will receive their assignments.

Leon Sanchez Dies Suddenly

The community was shocked on Monday when word was received of the death of Leon Sanchez in the hospital at Moab Sunday. Mr. Sanchez was employed by Chas Redd at the time of his passing. The family had resided in Monticello until recently when they moved to Fruita, Colorado. Funeral services are set for 2:00 pM today at the L.D.S. Church, pending the arrival of his sons.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR LEON SANCHEZ
There was a large gathering of friends and relatives at the L.D.S. Chapel on Thursday to pay their last respects to Leon Sanchez, who passed away suddenly on April 21 at the Grand County Hospital.

Charles and L. Frank Redd spoke of their long and intimate acquaintance with the deceased. Both spoke of Mr. Sanchez as a dependable worker, a good citizen, and a man loyal to his family and friends-a man not easily replaced in his line of work.

Mr. Sanchez will be sadly missed by his family. He has had to be both father and mother to his children since their mother 's death five years ago.

Forest Clem, funeral director if Moab, was in charge of funeral arrangements, and burial was made in the Monticello cemetery.

Leon Sanchez was born at Yalbina, New Mexico, Feb 16, 1893, his parents having to come from Old Mexico. His wife passed on in November of 1941. Ten children were born to them, four daughters and six sons. They are: Mrs. Helen Garcia, Maggie Garcia, Emilo, Leon, Buddie, Juanita, Max, Ernest, Gilbert and Dolores Sanchez.
