Eleanor graduated from Ashton High School, Ashton, South Dakota in 1949.
She married Philip Lewis June 20, 1954. They made their home on a farm east of Ashton and farmed until 1995. They continued to live on the farm until 2009, when they moved to Redfield. They had five children.
She was survived by her husband, two daughters, two sons, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two sisters, Hazel Maher of Redfield, and another living sister of Minnesota.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane; two brothers, Clarence and Donnie and one sister, Dorothy Mae.
She was buried at Ashton Cemetery on April 13, 2011.
