MUNCIE - Jack E. Fetz, 91, passed away Tuesday evening, June 9, 2015 at Westminster Village. He was born June 11, 1923 in Elwood, the son of Clarence and Leona (Lambertson) Fetz and graduated from Elwood High School and moved to Muncie in 1966. Jack served his country honorably in the U.S. Army-Air Force during WW II working intelligence for the 453rd Bomb Group, 8th Air Force in Old Buckenham, England. He was honored for his service by the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in May, 2014. He graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. While he was a student at I.U., he met his wife, Betty L. Essex. They were married in Bloomington on June 12, 1947. Jack worked for the Indiana State Board of Accounts as an auditor for thirty-six years; was an active member of the Muncie Kiwanis, serving as treasurer for many years, putting out flags and working many pancake breakfasts. He was also a member of the Elks Club in Elwood, several bridge clubs, served as treasurer of the Westminster Residents Association for several years and was a longtime member of High Street United Methodist Church.Jack loved to build things, play cards, travel, do latch-hook rugs and paint-by-number and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs. The family spent many years at their lake cabin in Michigan and later hand built a cabin he designed along with his son Rick in Brown County. Survivors include his wife of over sixty-seven years, Betty E. Fetz of Muncie; three children, Kathleen A. Streit (husband, Dennis T.) of Franklin, BJ Fetz of Greenwood and Richard A. Fetz (wife, Gail T.) of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Jason E. Streit, Jennifer S. Mulzer (husband, Jonathan), Steven T. Fetz and Daniel A. Fetz; three great-grandchildren, Colston Streit, Carlie Streit and Owen Mulzer, with a fourth expected in August, 2015; and one sister, Lois Jean Brooks of Orestes. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Chapel at High Street United Methodist Church, 219 S. High Street, with Rev. Charlotte Overmyer officiating.Burial of ashes will be held at a later date in Moravian Cemetery in Hope, IN. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Chapel at High Street United Methodist Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses at Westminster Village and Hospice Advantage.
