Born Jan. 26, 1922, in Chicago, to Edwin and Lillian (nee Palmer) Eckman, he passed away Thursday, March 21, 2002, at home.

Bob graduated from Libertyville High School and attended Chicago Musical College. He served his country during World War II in the Army. After the war, he began his lifelong career as a woodworker and general contractor. After retiring as chief maintenance engineer with Gaslight Clubs (Chateau Louise), he continued his interests in woodworking, fishing, travel, aviation and the Green Bay Packers. Bob was a member of American Legion Post #673 of Huntley and served as commander for the Dundee American Legion Post #670. He was also a member of First Congregational Church of Huntley, where he participated as a choir member and soloist for many years, as well as a trustee and deacon. In addition, he and his wife enjoyed their membership and travels with the Huntley Seniors Club.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years, Marilyn Amos Eckman; their children ("Eckman's Circus"), Deborah (Larry) Cullen, Scot (Lynda) Eckman, Edwin (Margaret) Eckman, Gail (Randy) Leggee, Melanie Eckman (fiance, Lee Plasmier), Kim Klonowski and Robert Eckman; sister, Marjorie Barclay of Metamora, Mich.; grandchildren and stepgrandchildren, Christopher, Rachel and Emily Leggee, Robert, Elizabeth and Matthew Brown, Brooke and Paige Eckman, and Caylen, Sage and Erik Eckman; and great-grandson, Charles Robert Brown.
