Doris Holmes, age 63, of Austin, died Thursday, March 14, 2002.
She worked as an Electrologist for 24 years. She started the Doris Holmes Electrolysis Clinic in 1987, which became the Doris Holmes Laser and Electrolysis Clinic in 1999. She was a member of the Society of Clinical and Medical Electrologist and the Association of Texas Electrologists. Many of her clients have become personal lifelong friends. She was the first Electrologist in Austin to receive the designation of Clinical and Medical Electrologist. She was also a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Tomie S. Holmes of Austin; son, John T. Holmes and Martha Gorena Holmes of Austin; daughter, Jennifer L. and husband, James C. Chandler of Dallas; daughter, Julie A. Holmes Brown of Houston; brother, James O. Braeutigam of Austin; sister, Carolyn Eckhardt of Fredericksburg; and grandson, Austin Brown of Houston.
She was predeceased by her parents, Otto and Lydia Braeutigam; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Gene Gorham and a niece, Tori Eckhardt.
There will be a visitation from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2002, and 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Monday, March 18, 2002, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, North Lamar, Austin, Texas. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2002, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, with Father Greg Romanski as celebrant. Committal services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Fredericksburg.
Honoring Mrs. Holmes as pallbearers will be Carl Eckhardt, Jimmy Pollard, Bobby Pohler, Billy Russell, Mike Martinez, Lloyd Schumpelt, Thomas Applegate, Keith Kunz and Danny Pohler as an honorary pallbearer.
