She was the Fredericksburg Chamber Ambassador from 1980-1984; a Chairperson in 1982; Chamber of Commerce Woman of the year in 1989; opened the "Tower Drive-In" in 1956;purchased Gandre's Dress Shop in 1964; opened "Madlyn's"at present location in 1968; and in 1983 opened a second store in MarbleFalls.
Madlyn Hoffmann is survived by her son David Hoffmann and his wife
Nelta Hoffmann; her daughter Brenda Durst and her husband Gary Durst all of
Fredericksburg; her son Jonathan Hoffmann and his friend Vivian Murphy of
Austin; her daughter Debbie Hoffmann of Pueblo, Colo.; seven grandchildren;
two great grandchildren; one brother J. C. Moellendorf of Fredericksburg;
two sisters Mrs. Frances Stevenson of Seguin and Mrs. Jocelyn Oehler of
Anchorage, Alaska; sister-in-law Margaret Moellendorf of Fredericksburg; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
A rosary service was held on Sunday evening inthe chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, lead by the"Catholic Daughters" of St. Mary's Church. A Mass of Resurrection was celebrated on Monday, Oct. 15 in the St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Monsignor Michael Boulette officiating. Private Entombment services took place in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum in Fredericksburg, with Monsignor Enda McKenna officiating. Those who so desire may make memorial contributions in her memory to the St. Mary's Capital Campaign Fund, St. Mary's School Endowment Fund, Ava Maria Hospice, or to the charity of their choice. The family received friends Sunday afternoon in the Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.
