Mrs. Norma Narnese Stephens Burgess of Newport, formerly of La Puente, California, departed this life arriving at her Heavenly home on Sunday, June 15, 2015, at the age of 92. She was born April 6, 1923, in Newport, the daughter of Albert Stephens and Etta Arnold Stephens.

Miss Norma Narnese Stephens married Mr. Theodore “Ted” Burgess in 1939. Together they made their home in La Puente, California. Mrs. Burgess worked as an Administrative Assistant for The Burroughs Corporation, one of the largest producers of mainframe computers in the world.

Mrs. Burgess was lovingly known to her family and most of Newport as, “Aunt-Sister.” She was a genuine blessing to her close-knit family and many friends. Everyone who met Mrs. Burgess knew without a doubt that she was a faithful and devoted servant of the Lord. She had a gentle way of being a witness for Christ and was never shy about relaying the gospel. Aunt-Sister was known as the family prayer warrior, whenever, there was a prayer concern, she was always asked to pray. Strong not only in faith, but, also in spirit, Mrs. Burgess endured many health obstacles and approached every challenge in life with a positive attitude. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.

This Godly woman will be missed and her influence will be remembered by so many, but none more than those who lovingly called her, “Aunt-Sister.”
