Mr. David Harrison Starkey, age 87, of Trion, GA died Sunday, June 14, 2015 at his home. Mr. Starkey was born June 4, 1928 in Summerville, GA, the son of the late William Benjamin Starkey and Alma Mede Frances Potts Starkey.
He was the former Chief of Police of Trion, GA where he was employed for 30 years. Mr. Starkey attended the Trion United Methodist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma N. Starkey; sisters, Eunice Willingham and Ruby Bennett; and brothers, James "Jim" Starkey, Judson Starkey, and Charlie Starkey.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David R. and Daline Starkey; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Steve Adams, and Phyllis and Bo Bowden; 8 Grandchildren; and 8 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a. m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Art Graves officiating. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Jim Bowers, Robbie Adams, Chris Adams, Devin Starkey, Dason Starkey, Kendall Coffman, Shawn Bowden, Larry Starkey, and Don Glass. Honorary pallbearers are Jon Payne, Bobby Lee
Cook, Lan Cordell, Carlton Vines, Jerry Westbrooks, Gary McConnell, and "The McDonald's Family".
Mr. Starkey will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015.
