Clayton Cook, Plainwell, age 83, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Alamo Nursing Home. Clayton was born February 20, 1931 to Lloyd and Lila (Cristo) Cook in Allouez Twp., Michigan. He married E. Lucille Cook in 1957 and spent the majority of his life in Plainwell raising his four sons. Clayton will be remembered for his kind and selfless spirit. From his service in the Air Force during the Korean War, the decades spent working with those less capable than him at the State Technical Institute and Rehabilitation Center, and caring for his wife, Clayton spent his life helping others. He is survived by sisters: Faith, Rosalie and Sharon; sons: Gerald, Thomas, Gregory and Douglas and grandsons: Aidan and Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lila; wife, Lucille and brother, Gerald. A committal service with military honors will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Clayton's memory be made to the American Cancer Society.
