Loren A. Phillips, 75, passed away Thursday (April 15, 2010) at Church Hill Rehab and Health Care.
Loren was born in Hawkins County (Mt. Carmel), and spent most of his adult life in Kingsport. He served in the U.S. Air force. Loren was a member of Freedom Baptist Church (Mt. Carmel) and attended various other churches playing the Harmonica. He retired from Kingsport Power Co. after over 31 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his son, Randall K. Phillips in 2004; his parents, Clarence and Pearlie Herron Phillips.
He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Lois Robinson Phillips of the home; one son, Steven Phillips of Mt. Carmel; three grandchildren, Stuart Phillips, Megan Phillips and Melisa Phillips; one sister, Vivan Hatfield and husband, Charles of Portland, Pa.; one brother, Alan Phillips and wife, Patsy of Kingsport; along with four nieces.
A military graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at East Lawn Memorial Park with the American Legion Post 3/265 conducting the rites.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Phillips family.
