Dan was born on August 2, 1953 in Laporte, IN as the son of the late Jack and Hazel (Leonard) Holmes.
Dan was transported to heaven to be with the angels on June 13, 2015, surrounded by his loving and caring family after succumbing to Alzheimer’s disease.
On February 5, 1977 in Calvary Tabernacle Mishawaka, Dan married the former Karen Lewis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Karen and their two children; Kara (Scott) Taylor of Mishawaka, and Danny (Amy) Holmes of North Liberty, Three beautiful Grandsons, Jack Taylor, Dane and Dylan Holmes, and his beloved animals. He also leaves behind a brother and a sister.
Dan Graduated from North Liberty High School in 1971, after high school Dan enjoyed life in his profession as a Professional Truck driver. His true love was his family, he was his children’s biggest fan. He enjoyed coaching them and attending all their sporting events. Dan loved living on the farm and caring for the animals. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping and swimming. Dan’s strong faith has helped him and his family through the difficult of task of dealing with Alzheimer’s disease.
