Dean Melvin Foster was born March 16, 1943 in Jackson; on January 18, 2009 he passed away following a brief illness. He was the second of three children born to Melvin and Bertha Johnston Foster. Dean's grandparents homesteaded their property in 1900, and Dean never strayed far from his birth place.

His home is located on the bank of Fish Creek, where he could often be seen walking around checking out the fish and other wildlife. He was a great fly fisherman and enjoyed hunting.

In 1962 Dean was married to Debra Dustin, one of his proudest moments in life was becoming a father; he has two sons Steve & Greg. He was fortunate to find love a second time and spent the remainder of his life with his wife Gail Sweeney. The couple was well known throughout the valley and Dean will be greatly missed by all their friends.

He enjoyed being behind the wheel of a big rig - hauling gravel or keeping the canyon open by plowing snow. Dean spent most of his life driving truck, he ran the mail route from Jackson to Rock Springs for several years. He was also a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Father, sister Doris and son Dennis Sweeney. He is survived by his wife Gail, one sister Carol Goe, his children Steven Foster and his wife Darla of Caddo Mills, Texas and Greg Foster and his wife Kim of Wilson, Wyoming, six grandchildren: Danny, KaiLynn, Jessica, Christopher, James and Cassie, three great-grandchildren: Tricia, Logan and Carter. Several nephews and nieces still reside in the valley.

A quiet family memorial is planned for spring.
