LIMERICK – Lorin W. Smith Sr., 71, of Route 160 died Wednesday evening, September 11, 1996 at home after a brief illness.

He was born in Newfield on March 12, 1925, the son of Edward and Grace (Eldridge) Smith, and attended Newfield schools.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

I lifelong resident of the area, he worked in bridge construction, was self-employed for many years as a carpenter, and finally worked for the former Waterboro Company, from which he retired in 1987. In his retirement, he continued to do odd jobs for those who sought him out for his carpentry skill.

He was a member of the Limerick Free Baptist Church. He was also a member of the
Freedom Lodge 42 AF&AM and the American Legion Posts 55, both in Limerick.

He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.

His wife June (Woodsome) Smith, died in 1973.

He is survived by a son, Lorin W. Jr.; a daughter, Kare Moulton; a granddaughter, Tabitha Moulton, all of Limerick; two sisters, Doris M. Smith of Portland and Mabel Sanborn of West Baldwin.
