Lowell Eugene Brown
May 31, 1918 - May 31, 2015
Redwood City

Lowell Eugene Brown passed away peacefully in his home on his 97th birthday, with his adopted daughter, Kathleen Rae (Bain) Brown, and her pastor praying by his side.

Born in Ashmore, Illinois, to Jesse Edna Williams and Chandos Marion Dudley Brown, Lowell was one of six siblings. He is survived by his sister, Freda Jones of Fresno, CA, eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a newborn great-grandson. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews and over 12 grand nieces and nephews.

He served as a Military Policeman in WWII in Normandy, Rhineland and parts of England from 1942 to 1945. He loved to talk about his trip across the Atlantic on the Queen Mary when it almost capsized, and of his many patrols, where he made sure the troops were safe and secure.

Lowell retired after a long employment with Redwood Plumbing Company as a service/repair man, where he was a member of UA Local 467. He was a member of the San Mateo County Coast Guard Auxiliary and also enjoyed studying Spanish at the Fair Oaks Senior Activity Center.

Lowell was an extremely avid San Francisco 49er's fan, holding season tickets for decades. Even after he could no longer attend, he loved to discuss game details with his daughter.

Always ready to share advice and lend a hand, he also cared deeply about the neighborhood he resided in for 68 years. At age 85, concerned about neighbors walking down the steep hillside by his home, he built a sturdy, railed staircase with tiled stepping stones.

Lowell was a loving father and devoted husband. He took great pride in all his relatives and enjoyed the many times they gathered together.

Memorial service will be held at Open Door Church, 4150 Piccadilly Lane, San Mateo, June 20, 2015 at 10:00 am. Gathering at his home afterward.
