Jane was baptized on 28 Aug 1747 in Old Stone Church, Lewisburg, Augusta County, Virginia.
Jane had four siblings Lt James, Jacob Jr, Elizabeth "Elsie" and Levy Peter Lockhart.
Jane Lockhart married Capt. Mathew Arbuckle in 1768. Capt. Mathew Arbuckle was born 1740/1741 in Scotland. Jane Lockhart and Capt. Mathew Arbuckle had the following children, Charles Arbuckle born 1768 and John Arbuckle born 1771.
I have read several accounts of her death, one that she died a month after giving birth to John. Another that she died in 1781, 10 years later.
The fact that she only has the two children is a point in favor of the 1771 date. In those days left with small children, men tended to marry soon after their wives died. He would probably not have waited twelve years. If her children were older John being about ten, Mathew could take a little time.

Jane's father Jacob Lockhart Sr. died in 1771 and she is mentioned as living in his will, The marriage record for Matthew and Frances Lawrence is proof she died before 1774.
There is also a differing of opinion of when she was born. If any one has definite proof. It would be greatly appreciated. That being said she still deserves her memorial.
