Catherine Ann Anders was born Catherine Ann Heslinga, daughter of Andrew Heslinga and Jennie Terpstra Heslinga on February 28, 1927, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
During her early years, she lived and attended school in Lynnville, Iowa. During her early teen years the family moved to Oskaloosa. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1944. She attended and graduated from American Buisness Institute in Des Moines, Iowa.
She worked at several banks in Des Moines before marrying Virgil Anders on September 5, 1947, and becoming a full-time homemaker in Oskaloosa.
In 1955 the family moved to University Park, Iowa, where the couple resided for over 50 years. To this union four daughters were born. In her later years Catherine lived in Oskaloosa. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and reading.
Catherine is survived by her four daughters: Connie (Phillip) Heberer of Saginaw, Texas, Judith (Daniel) Stockham of Bloomfield, Iowa, Carol (William) Vertz of Oskaloosa, and Terri (Michael) Behl of Phoenix, Arizona. She also had 3 grandsons and 2 greatgranddaughters, all residing in Iowa. Catherine is also survived by a niece, Linda Wise of Visalia, California.
Virgil died in March 2012. She was preceded in death also by her parents; and brother, Bernard Dale Heslinga of California.
As was Catherine's wish, her body has been cremated. Graveside memorial services and burial will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa, with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. A procession will form at 1:10 Wednesday afternoon at the Bates Funeral Chapel for those wishing to go to the cemetery. No visitation is planned.
