Al Eugene McClellan was born December 24, 1939 to Herbert E. and Maude E. McClellan of Gruver, Hansford County, Texas. Al graduated from high school at the top of his class and attended West Texas State University where he graduated with an accounting degree. He later received a Master's Degree from the same school.
He married Betty Ann Laird. They had four children--two sons and two daughters. The family first lived in Amarillo and later moved to Houston. Al started his career working for Mesa Petroleum in 1967. He became a CPA in 1974, worked in the oil and gas industry, then became a self-employed business owner.
