Mrs. Hess Dead.
Mrs. Ida E. Hess died Tuesday at the home of her brother G.B.M. Doggett of Wilmot. She was nearly 70 years old and had been ill for several weeks.

No funeral arrangements have been made.

Funerals

Funeral of Mrs. Hess

The funeral services of Mrs. Ida Hess were held at the Wilmot church. Dr. J. Simon C. Hivner conducted the services. His text was Isaiah 32:2. The theme, Christ was the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. Interment was made in the Wilmot cemetery.

Ida Evelyn Dagget was born in Vineyard, Haven (Island of Martha's Vineyard) Dukes county, Mass., August 10th, 1849. She departed this life May 23, at the home of her brother, Geo. B. Daggett at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 13 days.

She came with her parents to Henry Co., Illinois in the spring of 1852, settling on a farm near Cambridge. In the spring of 1863 they moved near Cordova, Rock Island Co., living there until the spring of 1873, when she came to Cowley county, where he parents had settled on a farm on Timber creek the year before.

She resumed the occupation of teaching, teaching the first school that was taught a Floral, Kansas. She was married to Lafe Brown December 29, 1875, still continuing her occupation of teaching until her health failed. She then went to California. She was married to John Henry Hess, March 24, 1908 living at Willowbrook, Calif., until his death in 1916, when she came back to Kansas, living with her remaining relatives.

She leaves to mourn her loss, one sister, Mrs. L.J. Sphar of Wilmot, two brothers, Geo. B.M. Daggett of Wilmot and Charles A. Daggett of Chama, N. Mexico, 25 nieces and nephews. Also a host of friends and pupils. One brother W.H. Daggett and one sister, Mrs. E. Mina Hall preceding her several years ago. She was a member and worker of the Congregational church of Willowbrook, California.
