Sgt. Miller of Willmar, Minnesota joined the National Guard while still a junior in high school where he graduated in June 2005 and worked in communications. He had only recently completed basic training, and had been in Iraq for four months. He spent his childhood in Bird Island and part of his teens in Willmar, with his father. He was born to Randall Don Miller and Kathy Louise Miller. The family moved to Bird Island in 1989 and he attended BOLD Elementary School through the eighth grade. He moved to Willmar in 2001. He graduated from Willmar High School in 2004. He enlisted in the Army National Guard on Nov. 19, 2003, and received training as a communications specialist. He also worked various part-time jobs in Willmar, including at Culver's and Menards. He was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. He had also been a member of the Scouting program as a WEBLO Scout and assisted with the Upward Bound School Program. He is survived by his parents: Randall Miller, Kathy Miller; siblings: Kimberly, Jessica, Jeremy, Tracie, and Nicole, Mark, and Luke, paternal grandparents: Don and JaNean Miller, and maternal grandparents: Richard and Marilyn Kuzel. He was 19.
