Funeral services were held at 10:30 am Saturday, March 30, 1991for Rose Margaret (Mackey) Kirsch, wife of Joseph Kirsch. Rose passed away March 27, 1991 at Buena Vista County Hospital, Storm Lake, Iowa at the age of 64 years, 2 months and 24 days.
Rosary services were held with the Legion of Mary at 4pm on Friday, March 29, 1991 at Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurens, Iowa.
Fr. Dennis L Sefcik was the officiant at the services held at the Sacred Heart Church of Laurens. Pallbearers were Robert Wolf, James Goedert, Ken Sindergard Jr, Bill Mackey, Corey Booge, and Rick Ellis. Internment was at Calvary Cemetery in Laurens, Iowa with Smith Funeral Home of Laurens in charge of arrangements.
Rose Margaret Kirsch, daughter of Matthew and Loretta O'Brien Mackey was born January 3, 1927 at Fonda, Iowa. She was raised in Pocahontas County and attended rural schools there. She graduated from St. Columbskille High School at Varina in 1945 and the St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing at Sioux City in 1948.
She was united in marriage to Joseph H Kirsch on July 12, 1949, in services at St. Columbskille Church in Varina and they made their home in Laurens until Mr. Kirsch's death in 1960. Rose was employed as a nurse in hospitals in Sioux City, Laurens, and Storm Lake.
Survivors include children: Joleen Dean, Washington, DC, Linda Marron, Mary Kirsch, and Dennis Kirsch, all of Pocahontas, Janet Kirsch and Janice Hansen, both of Union Grove, WI; 8 grandchildren; brothers Henry Mackey, Laurens, Gene Mackey, Fonda; and sisters, Harriet Goedert, Varina, Loretta Wolf, and Patricia Miller, both of Fort Dodge.
Mrs. Kirsch was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers William, Matt Jr, John, Richard, and Garrett, who died in infancy.
