She was born on October 22, 1924 in Morgan, Missouri to the late John F. and Delia Lucinda (Valentine) Smith.
Rose married Leslie S. Miles on November 21, 1976 in Lebanon, Missouri. He precedes her in death on May 21, 1976.
A long time Hartford City resident, she was employed for years in numerous retail establishments including, Lake End Sales, Newberry’s, Price’s Produce Market and Fancher’s Discount Store.
Rose enjoyed tending her plants and flowers and especially following her favorite country western singers. She really loved having her garage sales and was always hoping to have “just one more”.
She will be sadly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Bob L. and Joyce (Beery) Miles of Maggie Valley, North Carolina; sister, Patsy Smith of Hartford City; sister-in-law, Marianna Smith; nieces, Sian Roberds and Beth Ann Porter; nephews, Tony Smith, Bret Smith and Doug Smith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Bill Smith and sister, Fern Porter.
There will be no funeral services.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2015 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 North High Street, Hartford City.
Private graveside services will be in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.
Rose often shared her childhood memories of growing up with little or no money for new clothes and sometimes not having shoes. In Rose’s honor, memorials may be made to Clothes of Kids of Haywood County, 177 Weldon Way #2, Lake Junaluska, North Carolina 28745. Clothes to Kids in a non-profit designed to provide needy children with appropriate school clothes and shoes.
