Ray was preceded in death by her husband Hale Schaleben, her parents Henry and Jeannette Foote, her brother Henry Foote Jr. and his wife Elizabeth. Ray Foote Schaleben is survived by her two daughters, Gertrude Schaleben Butcher of Edinburg and Jeannette Schaleben Cook of Austin; her grandchildren, Hale Schaleben of McAllen, Courtney C. Johnson and her husband Jim of Austin, Jennifer Cook of Austin, and Stephanie Cook of Dallas; her great-granddaughters, Adelaide and Catalina Johnson of Austin; her sister Jane Ann Culpepper and her husband William Culpepper, of Alexandria, La.; her brother, George M. Foote and his wife, Toni Voelker Foote, also of Alexandria, La., and numerous nieces, nephews, and treasured friends.
