Betty Allen was born to Loren Lewis and Pauline Marie (Danner) Bentall in Dallas County, and had lived in Grimes, Beaver and Waukee prior to moving to Perry in 1949. She was a homemaker, and had been a country school teacher at Prairie Home School near Grimes.
She married Donald Watter Allen on June 10, 1943, at the Church of the Brethren in Dallas Center. She assisted her husband with the farming, and was involved in church and family activities. She was an original member of the Church of the Brethren Disaster Child Care Service. She enjoyed traveling.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Thornton Bentall.
She is survived by her husband, Donald W. Allen, of Perry; two daughters, Connie Merkey of Adel, and Karen Rink of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Donald Bentall of Adel; one sister, Elinor Peitzman of Dallas Center, one sister, Joyce Wright of Panora; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
