Harry was born in Warren, Jo Daviess, Illinois, the son of Benhard and Olive Nuss Miller. He retired in 1942 after many decades as travelling agent and then State Superintendent of Railway Express Agency, Inc., also known as American Railway Express, which was attached to the Illinois Central Railroad.
He married Lucy Elizabeth Judy in Decatur on March 24, 1903. They had four sons:
Harry Bernard ~~ 1904-1969
Robert Archie ~~ 1907-1984
Charles Oliver ~~ 1910-1980
John David ~~ 1912-1983
