Walter “Wally” F. Hogan, 76, of Marstons Mills, died peacefully June 8 surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Sally (Brynn) Hogan for 45 years. In addition to his wife, Wally is survived by his children: Maura Dean of South Dennis, Sean and Danielle Hogan of Parkton, Maryland, and Timothy Hogan of Manchester, New Hampshire; and his sister Justine Carrigan of Haverhill. He was very proud of his three grandchildren, Rowan Dean, and Chase and Bennett Hogan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Wally will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Wally was born in Saugus, Massachusetts, the only son of the late Walter and Irene (Gilbert) Hogan. He was educated in Saugus public schools before attending St. Mary’s High School. He graduated from St. Michael’s College in Winooski, Vermont. After serving in the Navy, he was employed for 32 years by 3M Company. He and Sally retired to Cape Cod in 1998 where he enjoyed playing golf, volunteering and traveling. Wally was a fountain of knowledge, a wonderful story teller and an avid New England sports fan. The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care Wally received from the doctors and nurses in the cardiac ICU and on Mugar 6 at Cape Cod Hospital. Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Sunday, June 14 at the John Lawrence Funeral Home, Route 28, Marstons Mills. The funeral will be held Monday, June 15 at 11am at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main Street in Centerville. Burial will follow at Beechwood Cemetery, Centerville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, in care of Our Lady of Victory Church.
