Hannah was born October 22, 1758, in Fauquier County, Virginia, the daughter of William and Mary (Chilton) Ransdell.

William was an officer in the Revolutionary war, he was a sergeant and a lieutenant in the Virginia line in the company of John Chilton. They moved to Fayette County, Kentucky about 1790 to claim William's bounty land where they lived the rest of their lives.
Hannah died October 1810 in Fayette County, Kentucky. She was buried on their Poplar Hill farm 8 miles north of Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky. William then married Margaret Lane Browning on August 24, 1812, in Kentucky. Margaret was born September 8, 1774, in Virginia. They had the following known children:
23. James M. Moore (Abt. 1814-1872) Married Mary Catherine Bright
William died May 1818, in Fayette County, Kentucky. He was buried with Hannah on their Poplar Hill Farm. His second wife Margaret died in 1842 in Kentucky.
