CHILLICOTHE - Rachel E. Cole, 91, of Chillicothe, Ill., died Wednesday, June 10, 2015, surrounded by her family at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe. Father Keith Walder will officiate. A private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Edward church or Rescue 33 in Chillicothe. Rachel Elizabeth Kyle was born on the family farm in Graham, Mo., to Robert E. and Emalyn Grant Kyle. She graduated from Graham High School in 1943. She married William Cole on July 30, 1949. They had been married for 19 years when he passed away in 1968.She lived in Moline, Ill., for most of her married life, where she worked in a podiatry office. In 1968, Rachel moved to Chillicothe, where she was the housekeeper for St. Edward Rectory for many years. She was an integral member of the St. Edward church and school community. Rachel had a passion for music and dancing. She was a proud member of St. Edward's church choir and loved to sing every Sunday. She enjoyed gardening and animals of all kinds, particularly her two beloved boxers. She was a wonderful aunt to her many nieces and nephews, a fierce prayer warrior and a loyal friend to all she loved. She was a loyal Cardinals fan for many years and always called after a World Series victory to share her happiness.She spoke highly of the personnel at Heritage Health where she received loving care and support the past two years.Surviving Rachel are her sisters, Dorothy Lubberts of Olathe, Kan., and Dixie Kaiser of Notre Dame, Ind.; and many loving nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister, Helen Miller; and brother, Robert Kyle.Weber-Hurd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
