Essie Landon Jones, 83, of Crisfield, died Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.
Born in White Stone, Virginia on June 24, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Allie G. and Lena Elizabeth Kellum Lee.
She retired from Rubberset Corporation in Crisfield after 24 years and was a member of the Evangelical Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed arts, crafts, sewing and especially taking care of her grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Mike Byrd and wife Shelley, Curtis "C.J." Landon, Jr., Lee Ann Ennis and husband Greg "Tigger", and Mark Landon and wife Sandy, all of Crisfield; five grandchildren, Brandi Riggin, Ryan Byrd, Karen Landon, Sara Grosky, and Blair Landon; eight great-grandchildren, DaJah Byrd, Kelsey Riggin, Evan Riggin, Ryan Byrd, Jr., Treyanna Campbell, Darien Campbell, Braxton Manuel, and Ayden Byrd; a brother, Bud Lee Hearold of Killmarnock, VA; a sister, Barbara George of Killmarnock, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Curtis J. Landon, Sr. in 1992, and Caleb Jones, Jr. in 2008; three brothers, Allie G. Lee, Jr., Howard Lee, and Frank Goldburn Lee, Sr.; and two sisters, Helen Laird Dorman and Peggy George.
Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Terry Riggin will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where a viewing will be one hour prior. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
