Professional Football Coach. He served as the head coach of the National Football League's Pittsburgh Steelers in two stints (1935 to 1936 - when they were known as the Pittsburgh Pirates and 1952 to 1953). He played football at the University of Notre Dame and as a senior, helped lead the Fighting Irish to a Rose Bowl victory and national title. Bach became the head coach of the NFL's Pittsburgh Pirates (later named Steelers) in 1935 and served until 1936, in which he had the first winning season in franchise history at 6 wins and 6 losses. He returned to the Steelers in 1952 as head coach and installed the T-formation offense. After 5-7 and 6-6 records in 1952 and 1953, Bach was replaced in 1954 after a bad pre-season. After coaching, he worked in both government and with the Steelers in scouting.
