Norma A. Burgess, 91, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, June 8, 2015, at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Burgess worked as a secretary for the Russ Dinius Insurance Agency after graduating from Huntington High School in 1942. She later worked many years as a bookkeeper for the Burgess Oil Company.

She was a life member of Central Christian Church, where she had served in various leadership positions with the administrative board, trustees, women’s ministries and church foundation board. She sang in the church choir for more than 60 years. She was a member of the Altrusa Club and Child Welfare Club, a former member of the American Business Women’s Association of Huntington and played cards with the Merry Widows Club.

She was born April 3, 1924, in Huntington to Oliver and Bertha Morrow Huston. She married Charles S. Burgess on June 1, 1947, at Central Christian Church, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 1975. She married Ted Burgess on Sept. 30, 1977, at Central Christian Church, and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1980.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie (Terry) Holzheuer, of Huntington, and Nancy Burgess, of Fort Wayne; three stepsons, Ronald Burgess, of Arizona; Steven Burgess, of LaFontaine; and Timothy Burgess, of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Robert Holzheuer, James Holzheuer, Lauren Urschel and Candace Holzheuer; five stepgrandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Calling is Friday, June 12, 2015, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, in Huntington. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at 1 p.m., with Dr. Sam Young officiating. Interment will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County.
