The second son, John Alexander married Clara Blumberg, whos father August came to Waller County, TX from Grimitz, Germany. They landed in Galveston in 1846 when August was a small boy. Clara's mother, Marie, and her father August were married in 1869. Marie's first husband Albert was a brother of August. Albert died and was buried at sea in 1867, when they were coming to America to join Albert's family who migrated in 1846.

John Alexander and Clara Blumberg Danford came to Retreat in Grimes County, TX from Waller County about 1902. They ran a store and grist mill and also boarded teachers. They lived in Retreat until 1912, about the time the school moved its location to the White Hall Community. Then they moved to Courtney, Grimes County, TX. They lived there until they died.
