Gustave G. [George] Nicol, 900 West Clay, a retired moulding sand dealer, died at Alexian Brothers Hospital in St. Louis Sunday night, 82 years of age. He and Mrs. had celebrated their golden wedding [anniversary] a few months ago.
Funeral services were held Thursday. the body was removed from Schroeppel Funeral Home at 11 A.M. to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where Rev. Theodore Roschke had services at 2 P.M. Interment was in Lutheran cemetery, with the following pallbearers, all grandsons: Rev. E. G. [Everett Gustav] Grese, Vernon Bonn, Irvin Nicol, Jr. Dale Nicol, Wilbur Nicol, and James Nicol.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church. He was born at Freeburg, Ill., October 9, 1865, son of the late Louis and Christina [Lehmann] Nicol.
He leaves his wife, Mary Tribout Nicol; four daughters, Mrs. Alma Grese of St. Louis, Mrs. Ida Bonn of Collinsville, Mrs. Elsie Michael of St. Louis, and Mrs. Louise Meier of Troy; seven sons, Irvin of Collinsville, Albert of Savanna, Ill., Edwards of Collinsville, Roy of Greenville, Howard, Gustav, Jr and Elmer of Collinsville; a sister, Mrs. Alvina Martin of East St. Louis; 31 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and other relatives.
