Katherine Washington Bullins Brown Bennett, 88, passed away Monday evening, June 8, 2015, at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart, Va.

She was born February 25, 1927, in Rockingham County to Joe S. and Hester Mabe Bullins.

Mrs. Bennett was a homemaker, and had been a resident of Stokes County for more than 50 years. She was a member of Old Orchard Primitive Baptist Church.

An 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be held Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Old Orchard Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Scotty Marshall and Elder Rodney Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husbands: Jeff Brown and Harvey Bennett; a son, James Lee Bullins; a daughter, Rhonda Brown; two brothers: Daniel and Paul Bullins; and sisters: Annie Brim, Lorene Mabe, Ruby Briggs, and Nina Priddy.

Surviving are her children: Wayne Brown (Lois), Tilda Nelson (Clyde), Larry Brown (Carol), Rita Brown (Connie), Darrell Brown (Rhonda), Timothy Brown (Kim), Tony Brown (Cynthia); two brothers: Walt Lee Bullins and Billy Joe Bullins; one sister: Shirley Bibey; eighteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Burroughs Funeral Home, and other times at the home of her son Tony.

Burroughs Funeral in Walnut Cove is serving the Bennett family.
