Son of William & Lydia (Bass) Rhodes. Eaton's "History of Kings County" says William Rhodes, from Philadelphia, married a daughter of Alden Bass of Nictaux...his father was a German from Leipsic. Calenk's "History of the County of Annapolis" says his father came from New England and married Lydia Bass.

North Kingston has a vast and undocumented past. It is recorded that in 1864 the post office in North Kingston was called "Rhodes."
