Edward James Cobean's obituary in the Orangeville Sun indicates that he possibly died August 19, 1923, which matches his DOD on his gravestone ... though I see that it was reported as the 26th in the Globe --- which seems to match the two week illness in the Sun obituary. I guess the gravestone is wrong and the Globe date is right, but wanted to share the Sun obituary with you.

Obituary from the Orangeville Sun (Orangeville, Mono Township, Dufferin County, Ontario, Canada) on Thursday, August 30, 1923, page 1:

Edward James Cobean
It was with deep regret that the news of the death of Edward James Cobean was received by his many friends in Orangeville and Mono. Mr. Cobean passed away at his home, 373 Wellesley street, Toronto, on Sunday after an illness of two weeks. On the 11th of this month he came to Orangeville for Derry day and appeared to be in his usual good health. While going home on the train in the evening he caught a cold, which developed into pneumonia and resulted in his death. The late E. J. Cobean was born on lot 7, con. 7, Mono, 71 years ago. For a number of years he kept a general store at Camilla and did a very large business. He was also treasurer of Mono township and took an active interest in all local activities. About 25 years ago he removed to Toronto and became manager of the Hygiene Kola Company, Ltd., which he conducted very successfully up to the time of his death. Deceased was a very affable man, kindly and considerate, and had the happy faculty of making friends and retaining their friendship. His was the kind of a personalty that everybody liked and his absence will be very much felt. He took a keen interest in the Orange and I. O. O. F. societies and was a member of the Presbyterian church. The late Mr. Cobean is survived by a widow, who before her marriage was Miss Elizabeth Henry of Mono Centre, sister of Township Clerk W. A. Henry. William Cobean of this town and Joseph Cobean of Toronto are brothers of deceased and Mrs. James Fleming, also of Toronto, is a sister. The bereaved ones have the sincere sympathy of their many friends in their time of sorrow. The remains were brought to Orangeville yesterday morning and the funeral took place to St. John's cemetery, 7th Line, Mono. Rev. F. W. Mahaffy, pastor of St. Andrew's church, conducted service at the grave and the pallbearers were Messrs. William Cobean, Robert Anderson, R. J. Leggett, W. A. Henry and James McNeil. Among those who accompanied the remains were Mrs. J. S. Island, William Howard, John McLelland, Verne Island and Dr. Faulkner and Mrs. Faulkner.
