Christopher D. Rivera, 43, of 2301 South Battlefield Boulevard, Chesapeake, VA, died Sunday, May 31, 2015. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, he was the son of Linda Van Duyn Rivera of Coinjock, NC and the late Augustus Cesar Cajipe Rivera. He was a fireman with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Fire Department and a member of Knotts Island Baptist Church.

Besides his mother, he is survived by two sons, Alexander Joseph Rivera and David Garrett Rivera both of Knotts Island, NC and the mother of his children, Mary Rivera also of Knotts Island, NC.

A funeral service will be Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Daryl Clements officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and immediately after the service in the funeral home lobby.

Memorial donations for his sons’ education may be made to Gateway Bank, PO Box 1908, Elizabeth City, NC 27906-1908. Twiford Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is serving the Rivera family.
