TEXAS CITY —Roger Barrett, fondly known as "Shine," departed this life Sunday, April 22, 2007, at his home.
Born October 15, 1949, in Dallas, Shine worked as a laborer with Tarpey Construction.
Preceded in death by his father, Sam Barrett and brother, Edward Lee Gates, he leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Mrs. Dorothy Barrett Murphy of Texas City; his children, Sonya Barrett, Tanya Barrett Shaw both of Texas City, Roderick Allen of Houston, Roger B. Lewis, Franchesta Lewis and Roneisha Lewis, all of Texas City; sister, Doris Conley of Texas City; brother, McNeil Barrett of Houston; fourgrandchildren; a devoted companion, Julia Elaine Lewis of Texas City; devoted friends, Thomas Bjerke and James Campbell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Homegoing service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2007, at Mt. Paran Missionary Baptist Church, #19 Sixth Street North in Texas City with Rev. Dr. W. W. Jackson Jr., officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to service time Saturday at the church.
