SPRINGFIELD - Bobbie Jean Howell died Sunday, March 25, 2007, at St. John's Hospital, at the age of 50.

Ms. Howell was born July 14, 1956, in Springfield, the daughter of Lula Mae Howell and John Luther Howell Sr. Her occupation was a home day-care provider. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Sarah Price Temple 1267 and a daughter of the Elks for four years, where she also held the office of doorkeeper. She was a faithful member of the Elks.

Ms. Howell leaves to cherish her memory her father and stepmother, John Luther Sr. and Gertrude Howell of Springfield; mother, Lula Mae Howell of Springfield; son, James E. Howell (wife, Lola) of Springfield; three daughters, Anitra Jones (husband, Damon) of Little Rock, Ark., Nikki Jones of Memphis, Tenn., and Aisha Phillips of Springfield; two brothers, John Luther Howell Jr. (wife, Donna) of Springfield and Craig C. Howell (wife, Cynthia) of Springfield; two sisters, Linda Harmon (husband, Arthur) of Springfield and Dora Johnson (husband, Maurice) of Springfield; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Services will be Saturday, March 31, 2007, at Grace United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at 11 a.m., and services will begin at noon. Private burial will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are in the care of Walker Funeral Services and Chapel of Springfield and Decatur. Pallbearers: John L. Howell Jr., Arthur A. Harmon III, Floyd C. Cruz, Ronald Richie, Damon Zinamon, and John Wood.
