Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Miller A. Powell; her parents, Early and Gertrude Cummings; two brothers, Owen “Sonny” Cummings and Woodrow “Woody” Cummings; seven sisters, Sara Virginia Cummings, Vernish Irene Cummings, Emma LaPradd, Rena Gaines, Altha Lois Dale, Ruby Kellen, and Martha Ray; and two infant granddaughters, Erin Faye and Christin Renee Powell.
Katherine attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Smith Mills, KY. Katherine was proud to farm with her husband Miller, and her sons, Norman and Tony. In her earlier years, she could often be found driving her tractor in the field or in the grain truck, taking a load of grain to market. Many times, she would take lunch to the fields and eat with her family there. In her later years, she enjoyed riding through the bottoms with the boys, Norman and Tony, looking at and discussing the progress of the crops. Katherine was always willing to talk about the farm and the farm operation. The farm will definitely miss her!
