A 19-year-old Walnutport man died early yesterday after his car struck a bridge abutment on Route 329 in Allen Township.
Todd M. Fisher of 321 Washington St. was pronounced dead at Muhlenberg Medical Center by Lehigh County Deputy Coroner Walter Stull, according to state police at Bethlehem. An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow in Muhlenberg Medical Center, according to Lehigh County Coroner Robert Weir.
Troopers reported that Fisher was traveling west on Route 329 about 200 feet west of Howertown Road at 3:15 a.m., when his car left the highway and struck the abutment on the right side of the road.
State police were assisted at the scene by members of the Allen Township Fire Co. and ambulance crew.
Fisher was a loader for United Parcel Service, Bethlehem, since October.
He was a student at Lincoln Technical Institute, South Whitehall Township.
He graduated in 1983 from Northern Lehigh High School, where he had been a member of the National Honor Society and the baseball team.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of Larry M. and Linda A. (Redline) Fisher, with whom he resided.
He was a member of Bethel Congregational United Church of Christ, Slatington.
Surviving with his parents are two sisters, Lorianne and Shannon L., both at home; a maternal grandmother, Hilda (Hausman) Redline of Walnutport; a paternal grandmother, Edna A. (Schoenberger) Fisher of Bath, and a paternal grandfather, Melvin Fisher of Bangor R.3.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the church. A calling hour will precede the services. The Richard A. Fox Funeral Home, 1002 Main St., Slatington, is in charge of arrangements.
