Walter Harry Newman, 86, of Collegedale, passed away on June 4, 2015 following a three-week illness.

Born in Wisconsin, he spent most of his life in Waukegan, IL and served as a deacon in the Waukegan Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He moved to Collegedale, TN, in 1990 with his wife, LaRayne.

Wally was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and was eagerly awaiting the Second Coming of His Lord and Savior. He was a loyal husband and a valued member of his family and church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy.

He is survived by his wife, LaRayne; sisters, Marge Toth, Delores Woolever, and Anna Jean McKinney, and their children; step-son, Douglas (Norma) Wellman;
step-daughter, Connie Peters and husband Dr. Richard Peters; step-grandchildren, Tiffany Kelly, Ashley Silverstein and Jessica Peters; step-great-grandson, Tommy Kelly; brother-in-law, Claire (Margaret Ann) Whitford.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Don Gettys officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga
National Cemetery.
