A freshman at Norwell High School, Evan Patrick Powers, 15, of Zanesville, died at 7:25 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne from injuries he sustained in a fall Sunday afternoon.
He was a member of Norwell's freshman football team and had planned on joining the high school's track team as well.
While in middle school, he participated in football and track. He operated a lawn care business over the summer and mowed many residential yards. He was an admirer of art and enjoyed drawing and shop work. He was always eager to help family with building projects. He attended Life Community Church. He was born in Wells County on March 20, 1990.
Survivors include his mother, Sheryl (Peeper) Powers of Zanesville; his father, John Powers of Kendallville; a brother, Zach Powers, and a sister, Ryan Powers, both of Zanesville; grandparents Margaret Powers of Fort Wayne and Jim and Delenia Peeper of Bluffton; and a great-grandmother, Ruth Peeper of Bluffton.
