He was a son of James Henderson, born about 1755 in Scotland who immigrated to Green County, Kentucky. He died there about 1860. His wife, Elizabeth, was born about 1757 in Virginia. And died between 1850-1860 in Green county. In 1850 she was 93 years of age and living with her son, James Henderson, Jr.

Family tradition has it that James Henderson was raised in a German-speaking family. Was "Baylor" an Anglicization of Behler/Bealor/Beeler? Was Elizabeth kin to any of the Beelers of LaRue and/or Hart County? Was her father's Christian name Richert/Richard? In 1820, James Henderson, Sr. and Elizabeth were living in Clark Co., Ky. with two sons 16-26 (one probably James, Jr.; Who was the other one?), 1 son 16-18 (Baylor or a brother), 1 son 10-16 (Baylor or a brother) and two daughters 16-26. Was Mary Henderson (ca. 1798 VA- bef 1870) who married James Ward (1804 KY. - aft 1870) on 3 Oct 1837 in Green Co., KY., a daughter or widow of a son? Were Richard R. Henderson, who married Martha Bailey on 10 Oct 1828 in Green Co., and his sister, Sarah Ann Henderson, who married Charles M. Shirley on 5 May 1829 in Green Co., children of a son of James Henderson, Sr. who died before 1829 when that Richard gave consent for the marriage of his sister? Was Ignatius Henderson who was living on the place next to Baylor Henderson when the Green Co. census was taken in 1840, another son? What became of him? Since Baylor was born when Elizabeth was 47, it seems likely that she bore several other children; but who? Did james Henderson, Sr. and Elizabeth have other children? Researcher is: Susan A. Henderson, Winnetka, IL.

Baylor Henderson married Elizabeth Milby on 3 Apr 1827 in Green County, Kentucky. (They moved to LaRue County in 1841). They had 8 children.
